Strings that Snap

Life can sometimes be hard. You grow up meeting tons of new people and associating faces with names, characters, vibes, etc., but sometimes they turn into more than just strangers. They become invisible strings of love, kindness and trust. It's your ride or die that you do everything with and can't imagine a life without them. Sadly, sometimes those can strings can snap.

This is exactly what happens in "Sweat" by Lynn Nottage. Factory co-workers Cynthia and Tracy were best friends who had shared everything together from gossip all the way to venting about work. Unfortunately, their string slowly starts to wear off in the middle because of the jobs situations at the factory. From personal experience, it really hurts when the person who got close to you turns against you. Especially when they start to act like you were never apart of their life or existence. This is also really confusing and sometimes makes you wonder "What could I have done differently?" or "What did I do to deserve this?" Eventually you'll start to just blame yourself or the other party as a way to cope with the situation.

The thing that makes all this even worse is that no one is the villain. Both Tracey and Cynthia are just trying to survive in an unfair system that tries to pull them apart. This just reminds us how in reality too that sometimes these strings can break, but we can always find a way to mend it back together with trust and communication.
