Strings that Snap

Life can sometimes be hard. You grow up meeting tons of new people and associating faces with names, characters, vibes, etc., but sometimes they turn into more than just strangers. They become invisible strings of love, kindness and trust. It's your ride or die that you do everything with and can't imagine a life without them. Sadly, sometimes those can strings can snap. This is exactly what happens in "Sweat" by Lynn Nottage. Factory co-workers Cynthia and Tracy were best friends who had shared everything together from gossip all the way to venting about work. Unfortunately, their string slowly starts to wear off in the middle because of the jobs situations at the factory. From personal experience, it really hurts when the person who got close to you turns against you. Especially when they start to act like you were never apart of their life or existence. This is also really confusing and sometimes makes you wonder "What could I have done differently?" or ...

Built from Sweat, but Left Behind

What is social class really defined by? Is it the amount of money someone has or how much power they hold? Well I like to think it's what society has labeled as the "better or higher valued individuals." This can be seen in real life and in books like "Sweat" by Lynn Nottage. The factory workers in the book spend their whole life as being the under dogs. They work hard to build the community they live in, but are still treated like trash. On the other hand, the so called "higher valued individuals" barely step foot into those factories. Instead, they're the ones in charge of making the factory workers' lives more miserable.  Eventually the factory starts laying people off. This action by the higher-ups causes workers and people in the community to move overseas. All of this starts to cause chaos. Friends start to become enemies and people were getting separated.
